How odds formats relate

Every odds format encodes the same thing: how much you risk to win a unit of profit (or vice versa) and the implied probability of the outcome. American odds use +/− to anchor at $100 (a $100 stake on +150 wins $150; a $200 stake on −200 wins $100). Decimal odds multiply the stake to give total return. Fractional odds give profit-to-stake ratio. Implied probability collapses all three into the percentage chance the bookmaker is pricing in. The book's vig is the gap between the implied probabilities of two opposing sides summing to more than 100%.
